About Us

Mission

The International Code Council Foundation is dedicated to changing the devastating effects of natural disasters and other building tragedies by promoting ideas, methods and technologies that encourage the construction of durable, sustainable buildings and homes.

Who We Are

The International Code Council Foundation (ICCF) is a subsidiary of the International Code Council, Inc., an organization that develops and enforces the most widely adopted building codes in the nation. ICCF is a nonprofit organization that promotes a comprehensive approach to reducing loss of life and property through a complete building safety system. By providing access to building safety resources, the International Code Council Foundation helps protect property and human life worldwide.

Objectives

The International Code Council Foundation is dedicated to:

Educating consumers, governments, and industries about constructing stronger, safer buildings and homes
Supporting research and development that leads to improved construction methods and techniques for making buildings safer
Offering technical services, training and guidance to communities, states, national and international organizations, and governments looking to develop or improve existing building construction standards

The Need for an International Code Council Foundation

Since the beginning of the twentieth century, natural disasters have become more frequent and costly.

Natural disasters cause more than one million fatalities around the world each decade
Millions more people are left homeless each year
In the 1990s, natural disasters caused in excess of $608 billion in economic losses worldwide — a loss greater than during the previous four decades combined

The International Code Council Foundation is dedicated to reducing these devastating outcomes by improving our ability to respond to disasters and by promoting ideas, methods and technologies that encourage the construction of durable, sustainable buildings and homes.

Foundation Leadership

The Foundation is organized into four segments, each fulfilling a specific need:

The Advisory Board will lend name, support and influence
The Board of Governors will provide policy oversight
The International Directors will facilitate international activities
The Technical Advisors will provide expertise for implementing the Foundation's programmatic goals

How You Can Get Involved

The International Code Council Foundation has begun a strategic planning process to define the Foundation's goals, objectives, programs, and funding needs. The International Code Council Foundation is actively recruiting a group of committed individuals dedicated to making communities safer and stronger through the promotion of a comprehensive approach to building safer structures and reducing loss of life and property. This group will meet over the next few months to create and implement a strategic plan, fundraising plan, and organizational structure that will provide the infrastructure to guide the organization toward achievement of its goals.

Funding Opportunities

The International Code Council Foundation is actively seeking funding through a variety of sources including:

legislative avenues
sponsorship by corporations
grants from philanthropic organizations
international funding sources
