What is the mission of the International Code Council Foundation?

The International Code Council Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with the mission to promote public awareness of ideas‚ methods and technologies that encourage the construction of safe, durable and sustainable buildings and homes, reducing the devastating effects of building damages due to natural disasters and other tragedies.

What are the strategic goals of the Foundation?

The Foundation enhances and supports the activities of the International Code Council and its members by achieving the goal of being the premier nonprofit addressing the safety of the built environment. The International Code Council Foundation is dedicated to:

  • Increasing consumer demand for and understanding of codes and mitigation as the keys to building safety.
  • Supporting the building profession through creation of expanded access to professional training and education as well as creation of independent research opportunities.
  • Creating community-based opportunities to connect ICC members to their constituencies and communities.

3. What role does the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes, Inc. - FLASH® have in the Foundation?

The Federal Alliance for Safe Homes, Inc. – FLASH® acts as a managing consultant for the International Code Council Foundation and provides mitigation education materials and programs to ICC Members.

4. What is the focus of the Foundation during 2009?

Upcoming projects for the Foundation include Code Officials Volunteer CORPS, Project H.E.R.O., continued development and funding of scholarship programs, and building a diverse base of support for the Foundation.

5. How is the Foundation funded?

The Foundation receives funding from the International Code Council and accepts tax-deductible contributions from both private and public sources.

There are many ways to get involved with the Foundation.

  • The Foundation encourages eligible scholarship applicants to apply.
  • ICC members can participate in the annual volunteer challenge via the Code Officials Volunteer CORPS.
  • ICC Members and ICCF Partners can participate in Project H.E.R.O.
  • ICC Members and ICCF Partners may request consumer materials for their own local events via the Foundation website.
