News RoomWitt recognizes carpenters for recovery work and donations
CEO James Lee Witt traveled to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, last week to recognize the Carpenters from Ontario Canada union for the organization’s work with hurricane recovery efforts in the region. The Canadian carpenters sent 19 members to assist with hurricane recovery efforts and have donated a total of $150,000 to the Louisiana Regional Council of Carpenters. In return, the Louisiana carpenters donated $15,000 to the Foundation to be used to fund code books and training materials for building officials in the areas most affected by Hurricane Katrina. James Lee recognized the efforts of both groups and the importance of the Louisiana Carpenters Training Center and its efforts to provide a skilled, trained workforce to contractors in the state.
