Project Completion Walk-Through at the Home of Heidi & Joshua Kruger

January 21, 2009

(Tampa, FL) --- Enjoying the privacy and comfort of a warm shower at the end of the day is something most of us take for granted.  However, this simple activity was not easy for Joshua Kruger, a 12-year old boy who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy – a severe form of muscular dystrophy characterized by rapid muscle degeneration and eventual paralysis.  Joshua is cared for by his mother Heidi Kruger, a single parent and military veteran. In order to live safely and in a comfortable manner, Joshua needed a bathroom with a roll-in shower, which would make it easier for him to roll his wheel chair in and take a shower independently every day.

Ms. Kruger was referred to RTTB by Alicia Argiz-Lyons of Shriners Hospital for Children in Tampa who was reached by the office of County Commissioner Al Higginbotham.

A special project completion walk-through will be held on January 21 at 3 pm at the project home at 3835 Twilight Drive in Valrico, FL 33594.

This project was possible by the financial contribution of the International Code of Council Foundation (ICCF) and their volunteers, who additionally painted the exterior of the house and provided much needed landscaping work.

About Heidi Kruger:

Ms. Kruger is an US Army veteran who served from 1985 to 1988.  She is presently self-employed which allows her the flexibility to care for Joshua in the safety of their home.
