ICCF Scholarship Program2005 Scholarship WinnersThe International Code Council Foundation (ICCF) Scholarship Program has been established to support the advancement of building and fire safety, raise public awareness and honor those who have been essential to the formation of the ICC, its legacy organizations or chapters. The deadline to apply is June 30, 2006. For more information, click here or Winners of the 2005 Scholarships have been announced. They are:
Joseph M. Rowell, ICC Scholarship. Joe is currently a student at Western Michigan University where is studying Earth Science with plans of entering the meteorology profession. While attending Brighton High School, he was a member of the track team and yearbook staff while holding down a full-time job to pay for his college tuition. Joe continues to work when time allows away from his studies. His father is Brighton, Michigan, Building Inspector Jim Rowell. Justin Smith, ICC Scholarship. Justin is a senior at Eastern Illinois University where he is majoring in Business Management with a minor in Political Science. He is a member of the Eastern Illinois track team and holds a 3.5 grade point average. Justin is also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and has been named to the Dean's List. He hopes to attend law school upon the completion of his undergraduate degree. Justin is the son of Sangamon County, Illinois, Plumbing and Mechanical Inspector Michael Smith. Olumayowa Oluferni Ajayi, William J. Tangye Scholarship. Olumayowa is a freshman at Duke University, where he is majoring in Public Policy Studies and Political Science and is involved in student bipartisan political organizations that discuss domestic and foreign affairs. He was a Georgia Certificate of Merit recipient, a Governor's Honors Program nominee, was a Silver Medalist in the State Science Olympiad and placed first in the Math, Science and Engineering Fair. He is the son of DeKalb County, Georgia, Plans Examiner Supervisor Oseni Ajayi.
Kirkley Elizabeth Braswell, Building Officials Association of South Carolina. Kirkley is a junior at Clemson University, where she is majoring in Accounting with a minor in Business. Kirkley is a Wofford Scholar, a Junior Marshal and has been named to the Clemson Dean's List. She also attended the South Carolina Governor's School summer program at the College of Charleston. She is the daughter of Newberry, South Carolina, Director of Building and Zoning Ward Braswell. Kathryn Joy Bentley, C.D. Howard Scholarship sponsored by the Code Officials Association of Alabama. Joy is a junior at the University of Alabama in Birmingham where she is studying Pre-Nursing with plans to enter the UAB Nursing School. She carries a 3.5 grade point average, has earned Presidential Honors and has been named to the Dean's List. She is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta and Sigma Alpha Lambda Honor Societies. Joy is the daughter of Sylacauga, Alabama, Director of Code Enforcement Eddie K. Bentley. Kara E. Gruber, Charlie O'Melia Scholarship sponsored by the Palm Beach County Chapter of ICC. Kara is a sophomore at Toccoa Falls College in Georgia where she is majoring in Cross-Cultural studies with a minor in TESOL (Teach English as a Second Language). She is a Presidential Scholar with a 3.8 grade point average and participates in intercollegiate soccer and intramural basketball. She also finds time to work as a physical therapy aide. She is the daughter of Gainesville, Georgia, Plans Review Officer Philip R. Gruber.
Monica Adolphus, J.W. "Bill" Neese Scholarship sponsored by the Central Florida Chapter of ICC. Monica is a senior at the University of Houston where she is majoring in Early Childhood Education with plans to become a teacher. She has been named to the Dean's List, is an Excell Mentor and has achieved her senior status in just three years of her college studies. In addition to being a full-time student, she also works with the YMCA's after school program. Monica is the daughter of Missouri City, Texas, Deputy Building Official Robert Adolphus.
