ICCF Scholarship Program

2007 Scholarship Winners

As part of the 2007 ICC Foundation Scholarship Program, the ICC Awards Committee awarded scholarships to the following children of ICC members, honoring each for scholastic achievement and leadership. All scholarships are designated for tuition, fees, books and school supplies by students attending colleges, universities, trade schools, business colleges or other accredited institutions.

Christie Baxter (Canal Winchester, Ohio) was awarded a $1,000 ICC General Scholarship for her extraordinary efforts in high school. While earning honors as valedictorian, Christie captained her high school volleyball team and volunteered in the community among other extracurricular activities.  She is a freshman at Ohio State University and plans to major in Pharmacy.

Heather Rybak (Ramsey, Minnesota) was also awarded a $1,000 ICC General Scholarship to support her college endeavors. Heather is a freshman at the University of Minnesota studying marketing. Heather also graduated with highest honors and twice received the business student of the month. She enjoys playing fast pitch softball, as well as snowboarding, dirt biking, hunting and coaching youth soccer and softball.

Brian Walkenhauer (Yakima, Washington) has been selected for the $1,000 William J. Tangye Scholarship.  Brian is a senior at the Washington State University studying civil engineering where he has earned numerous honors including Outstanding Junior in the Civil Engineering Department. He is extremely active in the university activities with membership in ASCE and other on campus organizations.

Justin Finan (Mechanicsville, Virginia) received the J.W. “Bill” Neese Scholarship (sponsored by the Central Florida ICC Chapter).  Justin graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 2007 with a degree in Fire Safety Engineering Technology and Associate of Arts in Police Studies. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Loss Prevention and Safety/Safety, Security and Emergency Management at Eastern Kentucky. His goal is to become a fire investigator or fire marshal.

Edward Knight Bentley (Sylacauga, Alabama) was selected for a $1,000 C. D. Howard Scholarship (sponsored by the Code Officials Association of Alabama). Edward is a junior at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, studying mechanical and civil engineering. He continues to maintain a high GPA while working to help pay for his education.

Kevin Ossege (Cincinnati, Ohio) was awarded the Charlie O’Meilia Scholarship (sponsored by the Palm Beach County Chapter). A sophomore at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kevin is studying mechanical engineering and was recently named to the University Dean’s List. He is also an active member of ASME, the Honors Scholars Program and continues to volunteer in the community.
